NYC - 10

October 28th – November 3rd 2013

The mornings are getting pretty cold and dark. J. worked. Nothing really special. Getting ready for Michigan trip. School (my fourth class started). Subway to Columbus circle. Walk across 59th street bridge to Brooklyn and then back via Robert Kennedy bridge. All together 9.2 miles. Very pleasant weather. Some very interesting views, the light was not favorable for picture taking. I found policeman directing traffic on fully functioning intersection (with lights) a bit useless. On East river I saw two Police Department boats (one of them had lights on). That was a first one. The bridges were really high. Long Island City and Astoria neighborhoods. Mostly along 21st street. It looked like “guts” of the city. Some stores but mostly car repair shops and light industry. And apparently quite a few “projects” - city public housing, I suppose. It was interestingly strange – it is hard to figure out some solid thoughts on those pictures. Big city life? Wards Island. Big psychiatric hospital (barb wire around). Really nice and peaceful island. Really clean parks and a lot of city workers there. A bit puzzling for relatively isolated park – what about more effort on other city parks actually located in busy areas? Too much to ask? Still, really nice place. Back on 125th street and rushing home – tired and legs starting to hurt. Not much afterward.

5.08 morning – dark. Bus 6.18 to LaGuardia airport. Security. Airport. Delay. More less empty plane. Uneventful. Picked up. Drive home. Babies. Family. Fun. Rehearsal dinner. More family. More fun. More babies. Nice fall day – warm, sunny. Quiet night. The day before: J. worked, get ready, nothing special.
