On the Road Again

November 19th - November 25 th 2012
Flagstaff, Arizona - San Mateo (Stanford assignment), California

1254 miles

J.'s assignment is at Stanford hospital, our apartment is in San Mateo. One of many cities in Bay Area, and big change in elevation from Flagstaff.
As briefly mentioned before, we had some issues when we tried to move in. The apartment complex promised to leave us a key in lock box (on Tuesday). With holidays and driving distances, we decided to arrive on Thursday evening. We did, but there was no lock box, so we ended up in motel in Redwood City. The next day (the day after Thanksgiving), we were unable to arrange anything, so we were provided motel by the San Francisco airport (by J's travel agency). We walked around San Mateo, did some shopping and spend evening in the motel room.

San Mateo is pretty nice town. We as well drove to Stanford hospital (to check the roads and options) for J.'s Monday drive. So far everything was looking pretty nice. The weather is not the greatest (cloudy, foggy etc.), but the temperature is pretty pleasant and IT IS NOT snowing.

On Saturday, we were finally able to move into our apartment. The leasing person was not aware of our problems. Oh ... people. The apartment is fine, we were able to unpack and get everything set up during Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday, we got internet installed. We as well visited plenty of shops to restock our pantry and few other missing things. At the same time, we were getting familiar with the neighborhood. California's traffic. Well, so far it looks just fine ...
